The Surefoot Effect, Community Interest Company
Sustainability. Step by step.
The Surefoot Effect, based in Paisley, Scotland, equips people with lifelong skills for sustainability. Our approach is values-based and transformational.
People are at the heart of what we do. Infrastructure and technology matter, but the whole-hearted commitment of people is the essential ingredient for change.
When people have:
- space to think
- time to explore motives and feelings, and
- leadership that inspires
…they create their own paths towards positive, long-lasting change.
Whether you’re worried about energy use, concerned about resources or responding to legislation, we can help you make changes that stick.
We encourage people to explore their emotions, motivations and behaviours and to make positive changes around energy and resource use. In turn, they are able to create and share their own path forward.
Not surprisingly, this simple human ripple effect ensures each wave adds to the momentum. Each new step forward leads to significant and long-lasting change.
We work with individuals, community groups, public bodies and corporate organisations.
The Surefoot Effect has found that people respond to different approaches in taking up action on Climate Change.
Our current programmes are:
The Surefoot Effect along with Dom Spain from Spain and Ziniu Kodas from Lithuania, have secured funding for an Erasmus+ 3-year long project with a focus on communicating solutions to energy issues and climate change at the local, European and national levels.
The project is divided into three parts. The first part aims to adapt the Carbon Conversations programme that has been successfully rolled-out in the UK over the last 7 years, encouraging participants to explore their values, emotions and identity as a way to reduce their carbon footprint. The programme will be adapted to the cultural contexts of Spain and Lithuania and new guides in both Spanish and Lithuanian will be produced.
The second part will focus on documenting projects and personal actions that are saving energy and carbon emissions around Europe and a few other industrialised countries such as the United States and Australia through writing, photography and other media. These projects will then be displayed in an online open interactive platform for anyone to access them.
The third part of the project will see the development of a programme to encourage individuals and organisations to replicate some of the stories available in the platform.
